Dr. Szemes is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience performing forensic evaluations in English and Spanish for juveniles and adults. She received her Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Cambridge and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Forensics from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Szemes completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, where she focused on forensic evaluations and mental health treatment in correctional settings. Dr. Szemes worked in the Juvenile Court Clinic (2010-2014) and in the Adult Court Clinic (2014-2018), gaining extensive experience in conducting evaluations and testifying as an expert in the areas of competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, aid in sentencing, and substance abuse.
