Shawn E. Channell, Ph.D., ABPP - Forensic
Dr. Channell is a clinical and forensic psychologist with extensive experience conducting evaluations of competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, aid in sentencing, violence risk, and sexual dangerousness. Dr. Channell completed his undergraduate training at West Virginia University, obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University, and completed his pre-doctoral training at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Channell was subsequently employed for more than 20 years by the Department of Justice/Bureau of Prisons, with duty locations in California, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. From 2005 to 2020, he was employed as a forensic psychologist at the Federal Medical Center in Devens, Massachusetts, where he chaired the institution’s violence risk assessment panel and frequently testified in federal court. Dr. Channell is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Psychology.
